Services, transfers and excursions, priced the way you sell them
How a service is loaded, how it is priced per passenger or per vehicle, how transfers work, and what is set per supplier, so quotes are fast and the margin is protected.
Why a badly priced transfer costs you margin
A transfer or an excursion that is quoted with the wrong rate comes out of your margin, and it is usually noticed when the passenger is already there. A catalog of services by type and supplier, with their rates loaded once, avoids it.
The service record
The service record holds the name, code, origin and destination, country and city, the type of service, the duration (half or full day), the days and nights, the currency, the markup, the taxes and whether the service appears in Traffic. It is organized in tabs: details, descriptions, images and policies, plus suppliers and cost configuration.
Service types are a catalog that you manage; a common starting point is transfer and excursion. The name, the detail and the policies of each service are written per language. Special services are extras with their own cost and sale price, in a single language.
Rates by supplier
A service is linked to its suppliers and operators, with an order of importance. Each supplier has its cost rates, and the sale has its own rates. Each rate has its dates, the number of passengers from and to, the rate type (for example Regular or Private), the market, the days of the week, the currency and whether it is charged per vehicle. A copy action takes the rates of a service to another supplier, with an optional markup.
Per passenger or per vehicle
With a per-passenger rate, the total is the rate times the number of passengers, using the passenger band that applies. With a per-vehicle rate, Beglobber divides the passengers by the capacity of the vehicle type, rounds up, and multiplies by the rate: 10 passengers in a vehicle for 4 are 3 vehicles. Vehicle types are a catalog with a capacity.
Transfers
A transfer is a service of the type transfer. Each leg is its own service, so an arrival and a departure are two services, and there is no round-trip rate. The pick-up time and place, the flight and the airline are entered on the service line of the file, and they are what Traffic uses.
Cost, markup and what the file keeps
Each line of a file stores its cost and its sale, its supplier and operator, the commission and the tax. Markup is a factor that divides the cost, and it comes from the service, the market and service type, and the file. The cost configuration lets a sale service derive its price from other services and suppliers by a percentage or a fixed amount.
Where services are used afterwards
Services feed the files, circuits and the traffic list, and the finders of the online portals for excursions, transfers and services.
